Lose 10 Pounds at a Time Diet
Diet Strategies April 21st, 2009
How Much Weight Do You Want To Lose?
Do you want to lose 20 pounds? Or do you have a larger goal, like losing 40, 50, or more pounds. Do you have a timeframe in mind? Let’s say you’d like to lose 40 pounds in 6 months. That can seem like a large goal, and a very long term schedule of dieting and working out.
Lose 10 Pounds at a Time
I have spoken to many people who managed to trim down. Most of them found that the best diet strategy that really worked was to set more modest mini-goals. We decided that setting goals of losing 5 to 10 pounds be a certain date, with an option to set a new goal at that time, worked out the best for us!
So it is really tough for anybody to determine to lose 100 pounds in 18 months! But is is not so tough to work on losing 10 pounds in 2 months! We like to do this, and then give ourselves a small diet break in between - where we try to eat to maintain our weight, but not always to lose weight.
Plan your diet around Holidays
Let’s say you celebrate some major holidays like most of us do. Why not set your mini-goals around those holidays. If you consider Christmas/Chanukah, Valentine’s Day/Mardi Gras, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter/Passover, Memorial Day Week-end, 4th of July, Labor Day Week-end, Thanksgiving, etc. Notice they are fairly evenly spaced. So enjoy yourself on the 4th of July, but determine to get back on the wagon and trim off another 10 pounds by Labor Day week-end!
A 10 pound at a time diet, like this, can be a safe and sane way to lose weight. Meanwhile, you can be happy to have met your mini-goals, and not frustrated that your long term goal is far in the future!
